Kiln 3D is how AI agents make real things — safely, on any 3D printer.

Describe what you want. Kiln designs, prints, and monitors it — then branches, merges, and signs the version that works.

Bring your AI. We brought the rest.

The full run

From idea to a printed product in an afternoon. Manual included. Business

Multi-part prints ship with a printable PDF assembly manual — Bill of Materials, isometric step renders, pause-and-check verification gates.

Cover page of a Kiln-generated Desk Hook Kit assembly manual with labelled parts and scan-to-verify QR code
Cover page — labelled parts, QR verification, and build summary
Kiln-generated manual step page showing the hook arm snapping into the back plate with labelled parts, direction arrow, and instruction copy
Per-step page — part labels, mating arrow, and exact instruction copy
Final step of a Kiln-generated Desk Hook Kit manual with the current part highlighted and a warning check below the instruction
Final step — current part highlighted with a pause-and-check warning

A real PDF generated by Kiln from a simple 3-part desk hook kit — cover, mid-build, and final step from the same manual.

Git for 3D Printing Pro

Branch new ideas without losing the working version. Merge what prints best. Sign a release and prove later that nothing changed.

Works on three things you iterate on:

  • Your designs — the mesh itself
  • Your decorations — logos, textures, photo-emboss, brand assets
  • Your features — reusable parts: a hat for an action figure, a mounting bracket, chamfers, fillets, pockets, holes

On Pro and up. Local-first — branches, merges, and signed releases live on your machine. Pro adds cross-machine cloud sync; Business adds team pull requests and approval gates; Enterprise adds audit log export, SSO, and step-up authentication on production releases.

What Kiln does

The five capabilities that make Kiln, Kiln.

Text & Sketch to 3D

Describe what you want or sketch it. Kiln writes parametric OpenSCAD from a component catalog (gears, threads, hinges, bearings) for precise parts, or sculpts free-form organic shapes for everything else — both free, no key required. Plug in your own key for Meshy, Tripo3D, or Stability AI.

Git for 3D Printing

Branch new ideas without losing the working version. Merge what prints best. Sign a release and prove later that nothing changed — every file Kiln makes carries a signed, publicly-checkable stamp at kiln3d.com/verify. Free offline; Pro+ syncs across machines.

Print → Monitor → Recover

Full lifecycle: slice with the slicer you already have (PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, or BambuStudio — auto-detected), validate safety, upload, print, control speed with natural language, monitor with camera vision from chat or the live web view, detect failures, and retry.

Safety at Every Step

A named safety profile for every one of the 70 printers Kiln supports, with temperature and speed limits. G-code validation before every send. Preflight checks, emergency stop, heater watchdog, G-code interception. Agents can’t bypass safety, at any tier.

CAD Files In and Out, Free

Already have a STEP file? Drop it in — Kiln converts, repairs, and preps it, labelled as CAD with the exact dimensions the file defines. And any design can leave as a real STEP, one clean solid a machine shop opens and measures, not a renamed mesh. Free on every tier, both directions.

More capabilities

How it works

From idea to physical object — then branch, merge, and print a better one.

  1. Idea
  2. Design
  3. Generate
  4. Validate
  5. Decorate
  6. Slice
  7. Print
  8. Monitor
  9. Iterate

Every step is an MCP tool. Agents compose the pipeline. Humans can run any step from the CLI. Every print outcome feeds the next iteration.

Before and after Kiln

One tool instead of a dozen. One conversation instead of a dozen tabs.

Create a 3D objectLearn Fusion 360, Tinkercad, or OnShape — or browse model sites manuallyDescribe it, sketch it, or drop in a CAD file — Kiln generates, validates, and prepares it
Control your printerOctoPrint, Creality Print, Prusa Connect — a different tool for every brandOne interface for every supported backend — same commands, any printer, each addressed by name
Safety beyond firmwareFirmware basics (thermal runaway, current limits)Per-printer profiles + G-code validation + preflight checks + real-time interception

Git for 3DRename files v1, v2, v2-final, v2-final-FINAL — lose track of which printed rightBranch, merge, cherry-pick, A/B across designs / decorations / features — three-way semantic merge at the mesh levelpro
Prove which version shippedEmail the STL and trust nobody edited itSign a version the way you’d sign a contract — anyone can verify later that nothing changed after you signed itpro
Hand the shop real CADExport a mesh and get told to come back with a STEPAsk, and any design leaves as a clean STEP a machine shop can open — when a shape can’t honestly be CAD, Kiln says so
Check the sizes you asked forPrint it, measure it with calipers, reprintSay “100mm long, four 8mm holes” — Kiln measures the design against every number and names any miss, and by how muchpro
Product templatesDesign every coaster, keychain, and ornament from scratchOne command: "make me a coaster" — ready-made products, with logos and textures built in on Pro
Add decorationsBlender or Photoshop, then re-import and hope it printsPhotos, logos, text — emboss or deboss with one command; a free allowance every month, unlimited on Pro
Add surface texturesUV mapping skills + texture software — not practical for most usersTiger stripe, marble, snakeskin, wood grain, carbon fiber, honeycomb, etc. — applied directly to any modelpro
Multicolor printingManually configure AMS slots and paint color regions in your slicerSay “make the handle red” — Kiln finds the model’s surfaces, paints the ones you pick, maps AMS slots, and merges the G-code
Ship an assembly kitWrite a 30-page PDF in Word, photograph each step, hire a translatorAssembly manuals, auto-generated — a printable PDF with BOM, isometric step renders, multilingual sections, and "what changed" diffs for revisionsbusiness
Slice a fileOpen the slicer, tweak settings, export, upload — for every single printKiln finds PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, or BambuStudio — whichever you have — and drives it, with your settings carried over untouched
Monitor for failuresYour printer’s camera or an add-on webcam — no AI analysis, no remote stopYour agent reads the camera and calls out failures — plus a live web view with camera, temperatures, progress, pause and stop
Resume a cancelled printStart over — the partial object is wastedResume from the exact layer it stopped, no filament wastedpro
Mid-print modificationsCancel, redesign in CAD, re-slice, reprint from scratchDecorate, add features, or swap material on a live print — with atomic revertpro
Print something too bigFind out when the part hits the gantry — or the nozzle crashesStopped before it starts, rotated to fit when possible — Pro designs the cleanest split and remembers the kit, so you can reprint just the piece that breaks
Trust your printer’s calibrationGeneric slicer defaults; your tuned values stay tribal knowledge, and every print’s calibration starts from zeroReads your slicer profiles AND keeps learning from every print — per-printer offsets refine over time with full provenancepro

Catch a worn nozzleQuality fades print after print — you blame the filamentWear tracked across every print, with a warning before a job pushes the nozzle past its limitpro
Keep filament dryGuess, or babysit a dryer boxRun the AMS dryer from chat (Bambu), check humidity, and get a heads-up before moisture-prone filament prints
Design for your machineGeneric models sized for someone else’s printerDesigns factor in your build volume, materials, and temperature limits automatically
